2015 - 2016 School Year
Any GHS student in good standing who wants an opportunity to meet new people, develop leadership skills, and strengthen ties to the school environment is encouraged to join Multi-Language Club.
The goal of the Multi-Language Club is to enhance the school experience for all students as well as impact the cultural environment for the whole community of Goddard High School by promoting ethnic and multicultural awareness and diversity. Activities include college visits when possible, Ethnic Festivals in the Wichita area, and movie nights to discuss diversity in society.
September 8 - 18 - Membership recruitment during lunch periods.
September 15 - October 15 - Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month
September 16 - First Meeting in A46, Ms. Cross' Room, from 3 - 4 pm. Bus passes provided for the 4:00 pm bus for those who do not have their own transportation.
September 25 - Multicultural Pride Day. Spend a day exploring K-State's campus and learning about college life. Find out about majors that will suit you and programs that will help you succeed in college. You'll learn about college life, majors, ways to pay for college, housing options, sororities and fraternities, and more. You'll also explore multicultural organizations and opportunities and take a tour of the campus.
November 1 - 30 - Native American Heritage Month
February 1 - 28 - Black History Month
February 23 - Black Leadership Initiative Conference. The Black Leadership Initiative is a one day conference for African American high school freshmen through Emporia State University graduate students. This conference consists of speakers, workshops, meals, and an opportunity for current high school seniors to compete for an Emporia State University scholarship through the Emporia Connection Black Alumni Chapter.
March 20 - Community Service Project. We will be filling the eggs for the Goddard Easter Egg Hunt. Bus passes provided for the 4:00 pm bus for those who do not have their own transportation.
March 30 - Latino Leadership Initiative Conference. The Latino Leadership Initiative is a one day conference that consists of speakers, workshops, meals, and an opportunity to compete for a book scholarship sponsored by the Hispanic American Leadership Organization (HALO) of Emporia State University.
May 1 - 31 - Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Other events will be posted!! Members will be looking for a fall and a spring event to attend at a college. This will most likely be a Multicultural Day or a Leadership program. They will also be looking for Cultural Events to attend. Check back on a regular basis.
