Mrs. Elizabeth Ewers
English Language Arts
9th and 10th Grade
Welcome! I’m glad you are here. The 2019-2020 school year is my first here at GHS, and I am so happy to be here teaching 9th and 10th grade ELA. It has always been my dream to be a high school English teacher, and after 3 years of teaching middle school ELA and technology, I am beyond excited to be a part of the GHS community.
A little about me: I am a Kansas City native and K-State grad. I spent two years living by the beach in Corpus Christi, Texas, and while I do miss the weather, I am a midwesterner through and through. I got married this summer to a Wichita native and fellow K-State grad, and we bought our first house in West Wichita. I love being a Kansas resident again!
It’s hard for me to choose a favorite book, but I love Ernest Hemingway, all things Harry Potter, early American literature, contemporary young adult books, and almost any nonfiction book. I rarely come across a book that I don’t like! My passion for reading came from a childhood spent curled up in various corners of my house reading anything I could find, and my parents and several of my elementary school teachers played a huge role in helping me find stories that I loved. It is my hope that every student who comes through my classroom finds a book that makes them love reading before the year ends!
Much of our coursework will be on Google Classroom this year, and you can find a calendar of assignments linked through Google Classroom for each class on my Calendar page. If you’d like to receive reminders about upcoming assignments and events, please join my Remind class using the information below:
