GHS Madrigals Join Voices With Area Choirs to Help Fight Cancer
The Goddard High School Madrigals were proud to participate in “Sing for the Cure”: A Proclamation of Hope on Saturday September 27 at Plymouth Congregational Church. The project, which raises awareness for women's health, particularly breast cancer, involves choirs performing the powerful song cycle "Sing for the Cure". The impactful work, premiered in 2000 with narration by Maya Angelou, features ten distinct movements, each written by a different American composer, and interwoven with compelling narratives from those impacted by breast cancer.
"Sing for the Cure" is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025 with a series of performances, culminating in a major event at Lincoln Center in November. Wichita is proud to have been selected as one of a handful of US cities to host a "Sing for the Cure" performance prior to the November anniversary.
Participating choirs were Plymouth Congregational Church Chancel Choir, Grace Presbyterian Church Choir, Goddard High School Madrigals, Valley Center High School Madrigals, Sterling College Singers, Guest Orchestra and Community Singers. Narrating the event was Annette Lawless and Max Dutton.
All proceeds from a free will offering will benefit the Wichita Cancer Foundation, which pays health insurance premiums for patients in Kansas.
