GHS has THREE individual State Champions, and many more State placers. Sharlo Rogers, BPA sponsor, took 19 students to compete at state this year. Nearly all of our State placers are qualified to attend the National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee this spring, May 5-10.
Students were able to qualify for the National Leadership Conference in three ways:
1. Make Competency and finish in the Top 5 in a Subject Test: Accounting, Programming, Desktop Publishing, etc.
2. Finish in the Top Three in a Presentation Event. Visual Design Team, Interview Skills, etc.
3. Finish in the Top 10 in an Open Exam that contains questions from a general subject area like Computer Programming Concepts, Information Technology Concepts, Digital Communication and Design Concepts, Health Administration Concepts, etc.
Senior Connor Koonce is the STATE CHAMPION in Fundamentals of Web Design. He also placed in the Top 10 in Health Administration Concepts.

Junior Anh Malakar is the STATE CHAMPION in Fundamental Spreadsheets.

Junior Aydan Pham is the STATE CHAMPION in Java Programming this year, and he took 2nd place in C++ Programming. He also placed in the Top 10 in Computer Programming Concepts.

The team of Minh Vo and Nick Risser, both Juniors, took 3rd place in Administrative Support Team.
Minh Vo also took 6th place and is the alternate to Nationals for Fundamental Desktop Publishing.
Junior Dean Northcutt took 3rd place in both C# Programming and C++ Programming. He also placed in the Top 10 in Computer Programming Concepts.
Junior Kevin Kiralyfalvi placed in the Top10 in three Open Exams:
Information Technology Concepts
Computer Programming Concepts
Health Administration Concepts
Senior Zahit Suarez placed 3rd in Advanced Desktop Publishing .
Senior Brandon Johnson placed in the Top 10 in Digital Communication and Design Concepts.
Freshman Connor Rudrow took 9th Place in Fundamental Desktop Publishing and has an extreme outside chance of going to Nationals as an alternate.
Ms. Rogers said that each of these students benefitted from the challenge that GHS teachers provide in their classes, and said “They learn communication, technology, math, and biology in your subjects. (Health Administration is mostly biology questions). It makes them well-rounded individuals!” Congratulations to all who competed and good luck at Nationals!
