Goddard Public Schools Families, Goddard Public Schools will not be in school on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, due to ongoing hazardous driving conditions. City, County, and District crews are working tirelessly to clear roadways, parking lots, and sidewalks, and we offer our deepest appreciation to them for their dedicated efforts. Given the extent of snow/ice in neighborhoods across the District, additional time is needed to ensure a safe return to school. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Kimarie Funschelle, the community outreach coordinator at the Mid-Kansas Jewish Federation, presented the Eva Kor Holocaust Experience: a Virtual Reality Tour that offers a unique and unforgettable journey, putting students in the shoes of Eva Mozes Kor, a survivor of the Holocaust. Students were able to see what Auschwitz looks like today and hear in her own words what life was like in the camp over {80} years ago. This experience allowed Mrs. Bennington's 11th grade history students to virtually move around the camp and engage deeply with this important historical topic.

"A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results." – Wade Boggs Congratulations to Mrs. Robin Perkins for receiving the District Attitude Award! Robin was nominated by Piper White and Dane Baxa. Piper White wrote, “The print shop is not an easy or stress-free environment especially when you get multiple orders each day from all around the district, but Robin does so with a smile on her face. At the beginning of the year (or her busiest time) she and her staff worked so hard to make sure all staff had the orders before the first day of school. On top of just getting us the orders she also wrote positive messages that always leave us smiling. Robin communicates effectively, and if there is ever a rush order needed, she is not afraid of the challenge. Robin is a rock star!” Dane Baxa wrote, “Robin Perkins stepped up to help the District in a big way after the sudden loss of Nancy Johnson. Robin is more than just a skilled Print Shop operator; she’s a problem-solver who brings positivity and energy to her work every day. She often anticipates the needs of teachers, administrators, and staff, frequently stepping in to assist with last-minute requests and high-volume projects without hesitation. Her reliability and willingness to do whatever it takes to support others have made her an invaluable resource. She developed a plan to visit every school during orientation, making a personal connection with as many staff members as possible, building positive relationships, and explaining the services she provides and the process for submitting print jobs. Beyond her exceptional technical abilities, Robin’s attitude exemplifies the values of our district. Her commitment to excellence and genuine kindness uplift everyone she works with. She is always quick to offer encouragement, inspiring our Community Relations Team and those around her.”

"Education is the most powerful tool which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela Jeff Pacha, GHS Math Teacher, recieved the District Attitude Award. He was nominated by Dirk Ankerholz, Katie Barrientos, and Heather Aldrich. Dirk Ankerholz said, “Jeff has been an excellent department chair. I have taught in multiple districts over my teaching career and Jeff is the best department chair I have had the pleasure of working with. He cares about his teachers and advocates for the betterment of not only the department but the school itself. He puts in extra time and is always willing to help with anything we need to make our lives, both professional and private, better. I am proud to call him my department chair, and I believe my life is better for having him in it.” Katie Barrientos said, “Jeff emits positivity on a daily basis. His positivity glows out of him and into everyone who surrounds him. He is rarely seen without a smile on his face. He is quite the prankster and can lighten any mood. He also has a talent for reaching students on a personal level so they know they have someone in their corner. Jeff challenges me to be a better, more positive teacher every day! He is an incredible department head for the math department here at GHS and we are lucky to have him!” Heather Aldrich said, “I am new to the district and have felt such a warm and enthusiastic welcome from Jeff. My first introduction to Jeff was before my interview, and he had a box with "something" inside to show the ladies in the front office. All they had to do was to open the lid. They fell for it, something popped out, and they jumped back in surprise. It was a fantastic introduction to this district where a relaxed and congenial demeanor seems to be the norm. Jeff began welcoming me early on in the onboarding process and even invited me to a department get-together in May so I could meet some of my new colleagues. We ended up going to the same week of a Textron Aviation Externship in July and he was just so helpful in introducing me to the culture of the District and GHS. He answered my questions, requested my opinions, and asked what things I was concerned about so he could help make my transition as smooth and stress-free as possible. Jeff continues to show this welcoming attitude as he frequently arranges lunches for us to attend during our prep week and other ways for people to connect. Couple all these efforts with his bright and cheery personality, and you have a winner as a colleague and a department head.”
